The New Faces of MV1: Al Ritter

Jason Snyder - Sam Everett - Francisco Araujo da Costa
Jason Kenney - Shawn Connolly - Paulo Costa

HEROES: Tell us a little about yourself in 30 words or less.

Al Ritter: Not to much to tell really. I like sports (Lions), wrestling (Double J rules! So do the Brood!), music (MegaDeth, Metallica, Moonspell!), and comics (X-Man, Gambit, Titans, Avengers, and whatever). H: How did you find MV1?

AR: I was just surfing around the net one day looking for some stuff about Wolfsbane and ended up on a large Excalibur fanfic site. Neil Gow's Crusaders was archived there along with a small explanation of what MV1 was, so I followed the link to MV1 and started checking out what was going on with some of my favorite characters, like Green Goblin, The X-Men, Avengers West Coast (I was so happy to see that title), and of course X-Man. H: Lets start with X-Man. A lot of people would say "X-Man yuck!" What's your take of this unpopular character.

AR: Yeah I know. "Yuck" is probably a direct quote too. I just really love the X-Man character. I not sure how to explain it. I mean, I HATE Cable. I mean HATE him. It seems to me everyone else just doesn't care for X-Man that much. I was hooked from issue 5. I got that issue for the return of Madelyne Pryor not because of X-Man. As the series progressed I started to like Nate more and more. He's a unique character. He has distrust of the X-Men. The X-Men fear of Nate. He and Peter Parker are buds. Here's a guy who looses the only world he's ever know and ends up in a much better reality but life still hands him a bag of manure. He's one of the most powerful beings on the planet and he doesn't have very good copeing skills. H: What can we expect from your upcoming mini-series "X-Man, somewhere between Heaven and Hell?"

AR: Nate has been kinda floating around MV1, first in Spotlight (when he died!) The in Premire as well as Fanfare. Well after having Nate wander pointlessly around, he's finally going to regain his memories and powers. Sort of. Plus his mysterious "resurrection" will be explained. And Madelyne Pryor is going to come out of the shadows and make herself known. H: What do you plan on doing after your mini-series in MV1?

AR: Havn't really decided yet. I wasn't going to propose an X-Man ongoing but I have some ideas involving the American Hellfire Club I really want to do. Plus I want to do more with X-Man. I might go ahead and try to get a green light on X-Man after all and use the Hellfire Club stuff as a subplot like in the "regular" Marvel X-Man title. I'm thinking about proposing a Punisher LS or two, and maybe a What If... story, all just ideas right now, but we'll see. H: Are there any books on MV1 that you want to get a chance to write?

AR: I'd love to take a crack at New Warriors. Wouldn't mind doing something with the X-Men either. X-Men. Hey that gives me an idea...
