HEROES: Tell us a little about yourself in 30 words or less.
Paulo Costa: I'm a 19-yr-old Communication student from Portugal. My main interests are comics and motorsports.
H: How did you find MV1?
PC: At first, when it was at the Avengers Assemble! site last year. I had read Scott Harris' Kang story in Avengers, and Stephen Morelock's New Warriors #76, but this story wasn't that good. I thought the tales didn't really have much of a thrill to them. I came back early this year when I saw one of the "Bullpen Bulletins" at the WCAML and thought I might check it out to see what they were up to. I was most surprised to see how it improved, both in quantity and quality.
H: You recently took on She-Hulk in Marvel Fanfare. What is your take in this character?
PC: I think She-Hulk is a resourceful and intelligent person, who wants to shed the image of a person to be used at the expense of jokes. She wants to be treated seriously, but doesn't want to do it by going back to her original "Savage She-Hulk" self, so she's not quite sure how to win back the trust of her peers.
H: What can you tell us about your upcoming mini-series Outlaws?
PC: My vision of the project is "gumshoe action with super-powered people". I was told Sandman, the only original member of the Outlaws I'm still using, would have a change of status quo that another writer was coming up with. I'll be using that view of the character. The Outlaws will be hired to locate a certain artifact, but getting it will be a little problematic, both in "seek" and "retrieve" mode.
H: After Outlaws is finished, where do you plan to go then in MV1?
PC: I thought about taking over Squadron Supreme after Kell's run is done. I have plans to do a Time Variance Authority title. And I'm thinking about pitching a lot of ideas to Kell's Amazing Adventures, since I like pulp/comic strip characters and the title is a little void of stories.
H: Are there any books on MV1 that you want to get a chance to write?
PC: Nothing concrete, but I'd like to tell a Eurostars story at some point.
