perched on the edge
of dull opportunity
in his suit and tie
knowing
he would give anything
to be
that ten year old boy
who once played
baseball
on the edge
of possibility.

Anville

There's a place called Anville
and it is located
in my memory

It's full of trees
and wishing wells
with a small pond
where bullfrogs live
and appear to converse
on some summer days

It is magical and alive
full of wonder
where the chipmunks
scold from the birches

And at night
when the stars are out
you hear
a cacophony of tree frogs
singing to the moon

That fearless place
known as childhood
houses many dreams
but none quite as beautiful
as that place
called Anville.

My Pride and Joy

Crayons and markers
scattered about
the work of my children
I have no doubt

They doodle, they scribble
and doodle some more
coloring pictures
pictures galore

They are artists, it seems
and it comes from the soul
splendid creations
that is their goal

Their mission accomplished
they go off to play
and the fruits of their labor
on the fridge, I'll display
