Patoruzito Nº 712, 20 August 1959

"Patoruzito" Nº 712, 20 August 1959, by Editorial Dante Quinterno, of Buenos Aires. Times had changed with the 13-year span from the beginning of this magazine in 1946; so had the economical conditions and the tastes of the audience, with a flood of 4-color Mexican mags in the market, and also the emerging TV. "Patoruzito" tried to attract its readers by changing the covers from the traditional title character to realistic-rendered scenes, from adventure strips (in this case "Charlie Chan"), drawn by the remarkable Brazilian artist Joao Mottini. The color of the center pages had vanished, on the other hand, to drop costs, and a complete story was featured besides the continued ones. The magazine was in its final stages, but still had a group of faithful fans who continued supporting it. Years later, after a hiatus, "Patoruzito" would return, but with a smaller size, more pages, and every story complete in each issue. It would appear on a monthly schedule, rather than weekly.
