| "Pimpinela" Nº70, March 11, 1957. This is a sample of the regular monthly "Pimpinela", a comic book that underwent several changes in size during its run. This is the smallest (13,5 x 18 cm), but it didn't make a drop in quality. The cover (like the main story) is by Enrique Vieytes, a well-known illustrator and advertising designer, who also made comics and was the director of a famed art institute, from which many of the fine cartoonists of the next generation emerged. As usual, the background was yellow and the letters of the title, red. Themagazine contents carried: "Pigüí y su pandilla "(a translation of the "Pee-Wee" character of the Little Wise Guys gang, by Charles Biro), drawn by Di Preta (who is currently doing the syndicated "Rex Morgan" strip); "La Estrella de Amón" (an adaptation of the Henry Rider Haggard's novel "Star of Ammon"), depicted in the cover; "Un Testigo Accidental" ("Accidental Witness"), part of the series of "True F.B.I. Cases", excellently drawn by Aldon McWilliams; and "Tegobín" (no other than the "Bathless Groggin" character from the Sunday pages of the "Abbie and Slats" strip, by Raeburn Van Buren. This time the readers missed the curvaceous "Lorna, Queen of the Jungle", which used to be a welcome guest of the magazine. | ||
