"Supertorieta" Nº4,
July 1953. A monthly magazine published by Publicaciones Universales, Buenos
Aires, Argentina. A 28-page comic book, rather small in size, full colored
both in cover and inner pages (the same as its Annual, portrayed beside).
At this early stage, "Supertorieta" -a name made-up by combining the prefix
"super" with the last half of the word "historieta" (meaning "comic")-
presented characters from the Fawcett line, renaming them all adding the
"super" to their names. So there was "Super Capitán" (for "Captain
Midnight"), "Super Aventurero" (none other than "Scarlett and Pinky"),
"Super Fantasma" (for "Ghost Rider"), etc. The magazine generated a good
response from readers, but it would eventually change and get to print
science fiction stories mainly; although prohibitive costs made it loose
its colored pages, these new futuristic themes made it even more popular
than before. For some time, it was a much-seeked item; today, collectors
appreciate it greatly, too.
