| "El Capitán Marvel", Año II, Nº14, November 1st., 1953. Just two issues before its last (to be replaced by no less than Batman), this comic, a rare case among its peers, indeed, didn't show the signs of decadence that were common in the comic books of the period when they approached their demise. Issue #14 carried the usual 4 "Cap." adventures ("Menacing Mirage", "The Greatest Show on Earth", "The Deadly Spider" and -we're lucky this time!-"Sivana and the Primitive Men"). The humor fillers were there also, conforming a magazine as fresh and enjoyable as the first issue was, only perhaps a little more inclined to some hint of "horror" themes, as in the case of the "deadly spider". The Sivana character was of those one "loves to hate", and I confess I inspired in his looks to make a character in one of my own comics (which appeared around three decades later); but my creature, also a scientific, was good natured and friend to the hero... Thank you, C. C. Beck! | ||
