"El Despertar del Mundo" ("The World Awakes"), Nº1, November 30, 1954, published by Editora de Periódicos "La Prensa", México. It's the Spanish version of Joe Kubert & Norman Maurer's "1,000,000 Years Ago" #1, published in USA by St.John Publishing House in September 1953. It was intended to be a part of the ephemeral 3-D Comics craze, but it came flat and four-colored, for comics in three dimensions lasted but half a year, and then vanished for decades. The story happened in a sort of prehistorical, but also whimsical, background, for, regardless of the 70,000,000 of years(!) gap between species, Kubert and Maurer made human co-exist with dinosaurs... Some people saw also a challenge to the Bible teachings, and gave the editor team a bad time with their letters of reproach. On my account, the very excellent artistic quality of Kubert (which I prefer to any other opus he ever did, before or after) and Maurer's narrative skills made this one of the highest pieces in my rating of GAC... I treasure the scarce 4 issues which came in Spanish, and have refused high offers in dollars to sell my small collection. D.C. Comics bought the character years later, and it's interesting to note that Kubert changed the introductory first page -in which he and Maurer addressed the readers- for the new edition (in the '70s), drawing his likeness older than in the former one, and completely eliminating Norman Maurer, who apparently was no more his partner in the venture!...
