Enigmas de Ultratumba Nº1, September 18, 1953.

"Enigmas de Ultratumba"("Enigmas from Beyond the Grave" -or something of the sort...)Nº1, September 18, 1953. Published by Editorial Proteo, in Mexico, is a companion comic book to "Mundos Fantásticos", both produced in their original American versions by Better Publications; the original title may have been "Adventures into Darkness". Like its peer, this comic book is over the standard stuff, with very remarkable art by Alex Toth, George Tuska, Jack Katz and Ruben Moreira, to name some of the staff artists, all of them among the best in those times. The scripts were also very well plotted, filled with fantasy and suspense, and devoid of trite elements. Contents for the first issue: "El Espanto de Costa Bruta" ("The Dread of Costa Bruta"), in which the masterful hand of Toth is evident, although he doesn't seem to work solo; "Diamante Mortal" ("Deadly Diamond"), a classic Tuska, if unsigned; "El Castillo Maldito" ("Cursed Castle"), which seems a work of George Roussos; and "Teatro de Horror" ("Horror Theatre"), with all the Ruben Moreira "trade-mark" details in it, even if the signature box appears blank... A truly delightful mag for '50s Horror Comics fans..., soon to be followed by lurid Nº2, which was announced in the back cover
