Selva: January 1955,  No. 27

"Selva" Nº27, January 1955. Published by Export Newspaper Service, Inc., of New York, for distribution in Mexico and Latin America. This is the "classic" cover, used for advertising the magazine. Superbly crafted by Bob Lubbers, one of the best (if unfairly underrated) artists in comic history. He did "Tarzan" after Burne Hogarth left it, and he really had little to envy the great master... Lubbers's Tarzan was even a bit more "pleasant", in my humble opinion, for it was "lighter" and no so stern-looking. The women he drew, also, were far more gorgeous than those of Hogarth. As for "Selva", the interior art (not by Lubbers) was not up to the cover quality. It was customary in that kind of magazines, but in this particular case the difference was more evident than ever...
