| "Terror en la Noche" Nº13, February-March 1954. International Editions, Pan-American International Agency, New York, USA. The Spanish version of "Out of the Night" Nº13, a publication of Scope Magazines. Unlike most of the comic books of the period, the Spanish versions of which were printed in Mexico from American originals, this magazine had its Spanish translation made in USA, then distributed in Latin America. That's the reason this scan is joined to those of the "Pavor" comics, which were also from USA, although from a different house. The pre-Code issues of "Terror en la Noche" were all of a high level of quality, much like its companion title, "Mundos Prohibidos" ("Forbidden Worlds") also included in this sector. The cover is a magnificent example of "slick" horror, probably the work of Ken Bald. Its contents include "Las Calaveras que Gritan" ("Screaming Skulls"), with the competent art of Bob Forgione; "Del Fondo del Pozo" ("From the Bottom of the Well"), art unsigned, but fine enough; "Proceso de Eliminación" ("Process of Elimination"), also unsigned, doubtless the best sample of art in the issue; and "El Fin de Allie" ("The End of Allie"), anonymous art, too, but with the customary "punch" of the standard house stuff. A highly enjoyable, collectible title, which unfortunatelly went downhill after the Comics Code restrictions forced the publisher to "water down" the scripts and avoid "horriffic" art. | ||
