"La Fórmula Mortal" ("Formula of Death"), appeared in "Cuentos de Brujas" Nº16, January 1953 (the Spanish version of Harvey's "Witches Tales", published in Mexico by Editora de Periódicos "La Prensa"). The art of Rudy Palais, while less "charming" than Bob Powell's (shown elsewhere in this page), is notably suited for the macabre stuff. The imaginative design, plus the fantastic monstrous characterizations, make a splendid "horriffic" comic page, filled with the flavor of old pulps and classic horror films. Captions and balloons are reduced to a minimum, in a perfect match with the pictures, obtaining the synergism which makes a good comic. |
