  • I was once in a class where the professor had been giving the exact same tests for many years. All students knew this and therefore obtained exams from prior semesters. I happened to get a copy of a test that was taken by the TA a few years earlier (he got a 95% on it). I corrected the mistake (a mathematical error) and studied from this exam. I even went to the TA to clear up some confusion (I didn't let him know that I was using his test). I studied this exam and memorized it word for word.

  • I was having difficulties with a homework problem in my materials balances class, so I went to the TA. She wasn't a very good teacher, and by the time she was done "explaining" the problem, she'd worked the whole thing for me, on paper. Fine with me, righ t? I copied it down and handed it in the next day. To my surprise, when I got it back a week later, that same TA had only given me three out of ten on that problem! Seems "I" made some mistakes in working it....

  • I've actually been out of school for many years, and in fact have been part of "the enemy camp" (i.e. a Professor). When I got my BS, though, I had a nightmare the night before commencement. I was checking through school to see what grades I got, and for one class everyone had A's or B's except me - my name had "see instructor" after it! I had passed the course, but nothing had convinced my sub-conscious.
