| Halimun; a mountain village people |
| The people living in around the
National Park come from Kasepuhan . The Kasepuhan
livelihood comes mainly from paddy farming, but they are
also have very unique ways of managing forest resources
that are based on wisdom passed down from generation. |

| Baduy, way of life |
| The Badui are a reclusive group of
some 3,000 people, living in the remote Kendeng
mountains, southern part of Lebak. "Badui" is a
term used by outsiders; the people of Kanekes and claim
to be the original, pre-Islamic inhabitants of the Sunda
highlands. Their language in an archaic dialect of the
Sundanese language spoken by the majority ethnic group
which lives all round them. The Badui territory comprises
about 35 settlements. Three are located in what is called
the "inner territory," from which outsiders are
barred. The remaining villages are part of the
"outer Badui" region. |

| Siberut, native on the way |
| Siberut is located off shore at a
distance of approximately 100 sea miles from Padang. From
here, it take about one whole night of sailing to reach
Muarasiberut. Up to the 1930's, each village usually
consisted of three to five settlement called peruman. The
main traditional source of livelihood is hunting. Some
Siberut called them self as a medicine man or sikere. He
had an obligation to cure as traditional wise way, and do
ceremonial to throw away a bad luck and so on. Every
Siberut has own tattoo. |
