Valeri GALETCHIAN

Valeri Galetchian was born in Saint-Petersburg in 1947.

In 1990-1994 he published two poetry collections, two novels and two stories.
In 1995 -1997 he displayed 253 traditional and computer graphic works at one-man exhibitions and other exhibitions in Saint-Petersburg.

Valeri Galetchian:

"It is not improbable that the whole diversity of our senses is only meant for unity with the cosmos. The universe is open to each and all because its language is so versatile though alien to man. For ages people have striven to converse with the Heaven. An effort to face the challenge is represented in the "Fiery Breath of the Universe" album of 1995-1996. It was on display during the First Festival of experimental arts and performance in Saint Petersburg, 26.08 - 4.09.96.
Fifty word constructions of the special "chaoruss" language provide for visual perception of concepts through computer graphics, with audial perception achieved by translation or extended interpretation."

The print-out size is 329 x 455 mm.

"Today, painting has been sacrificed to art photography, his vision of material reality ranging from static to topmost levels of expression. X-ray and rapid photography reaches beyond outward form to open out an object or an action, with holography ensuring comprehensive external description of an object. The art alternatively rejects itself in pop-art forms, or goes deep into man's incognizable inner self through surrealistic horrors or dreams. The new painting reality lies in presenting spiritual essence of man as a cognizing object. Pictorial media of word description crystallize conception. By sight, various trends of the stream of consciousness may be restricted within the traditional form of an album, with each word construction representing a graphic transcription of a concept typical for each specific stream of consciousness. Each title plays a part in extending concept meaning and placing the observer-spectator in a new frame of reference.

The computer dialogue mode ensures a deeper insight for both the artist and spectator by introducing them to a virtual reality of thinking."
