Capt. Greene's Scandalous Photo's
A few years ago, a small detail of soldiers(who are now men of the 42nd Ind. Inf.) were traveling on leave with Capt. Greene in a small village of Spring Mill, Indiana. The plan was to camp for the night on the outskirts of the village, but as night fell so did the rain and we found ourselves seeking refuge in a nearby tavern. Spirits were high and began flowing. It is rumored that at one point in the evening while the Captain was playing cards at a table with a few ladies, he stood up unannouced and dropped his trowsers. He claimed that his trowsers were wet and he was just going to allow them to dry by the fire, but we know better. The ladies were first shocked then humored. At least I think they were humored.... They couldn't stop laughing!
Another soldier caught in this scandalous affair was a lickfinger formely known as "Gentleman Joe". Not so Gentlemanly in this likeness! The rumors about him can be laid to rest however.... It seems that in this likeness the ladies are paying him!!!!
