Bradford on Avon is only 8 miles from Bath on the southern edge of the Cotswold Hills. The town is something like Bath but it has a longer history. This is no new Georgian town but has buildings dating back to about AD 700 (Saxon Church of St. Laurence) It has weavers cottages, and the bridge across the Avon is in part 13th century, the 19th century riverside cloth mills are now converted into apartments
The Riverside Walk leads to the Packhorse Bridge and the huge 33 ft long Tythe Barn alongside the Kennet and Avon Canal, follow the canal to the Lock at the Frome Road, and if you are lucky watch the lock being operated.
Cafe for tea or lunch: The Scribbling Horse, Silver Street.(plus numerous others)
Museum: Above the Library near the bridge.
To sum up, Bradford has old world charm, it's built on a hillside and a fine river runs through it, but do go on a warm day to enjoy the walks.
