Tri Prasetya Pesilat is an ethic code of Pencak Silat man. It is a pledge declaration of Pencak Silat man to himself to fulfil his obligations and consists of 3 pledges as a unity.
The declaration is made by him in his respective qualities as an individual, as a man and as a knight. The promise made to himself as an individual is expressed in the first prasetya (promise), to himself as a man in the second, and to himself as a knight in the third "prasetya".
The complete formulation of Tri Prasetya Pesilat is as follows:
1.A Pesilat is an individual who has noble mind and character.
2.A Pesilat is a man who honours his fellow man, and loves friendship and peace.
3.A Pesilat is a knight who upholds truth, honesty and justice, and is always resilient in facing any ordeal and temptation.
The brief explanation here below has the purpose and objective to make Pencak Silat men conscious of the significance, the soul, the spirit and the aims declared in the said Tri Prasetya Pesilat, so that they will be strongly motivated to live it through, or to experience and live up to it, to bring it into practice.
