Born: Chatiani village, Pabna, 22 September, 1932.

Physician.

His father was Afsar Uddin Ahmed. He passed the Matriculation from Pabna District School in 1948, and I.Sc. from Dhaka College in 1950. He received scholarship in both of the exams. He stood first in M.B.B.S. from Dhaka Medical College in 1955, and awarded Gold Medal.

He joined the Dhaka Medical College as an Assistant Sergeon in December 15, 1956. On January 8, 1957, he married Dr. Jahan Ara. He was promoted to the Register of Medicine in 1959.

He went to Edinborough, England, in March 1960, to receive higher education in medicine. The same year, he received M.R.C.P. degree in cardiology. He worked in many hospitals in England as a part of his practical experience. He received M.R.C.P. degree from Longon in general medicine in 1962. He worked as a Registar at the Hammersmith Hospital in London.

He returned home on January 1st, 1963. Thereafter, he joined the Dhaka Medical College as an Assistant Professor of Medicine. He bacame the Professor of Medicine and Professor of Cardiology in 1968.

He was a brilliant physician. He believed in establishing a public health system in the country. He was inspired by the Bangalee nationalist movements of the 60s. He was a firm supporter of the Bangladesh Liberation War of 1971 against Pakistan, and generously provided financial help to many Freedom Fighters.

He was also a renowned reseracher of medicine. Many of his research were published in British Medical Journal and Lancette.

He was famous as a progressive thinker. He believed in a classless, socialist society.

Death: At the very end of the Bangladesh Liberation War against Pakistan, like many other intellectuals, he was picked up from his apartment in 75 Siddeshori by the Al-Badar Bahini(Jamat-e-Islami cadars, and right-hands of Pakistani military genocides) with the help of some Pakistni soldiers in December 15, 1971, and was brutally killed.
