The Oak Harbor Cultural Dance Troupe was founded in 1994 by teacher Mrs. Marci Mallari, as a way for many students to learn about various dances from her native homeland, the Philippines. Other forms of dances which have also been displayed include Mexican, Hawaiian, Korean, and others.

Currently, she is also joined by her assistant coordinators Mrs. Rosa Draghi and Mrs. Norma DelaCruz, who both have an extensive background in cultural dance and are very much active within their communities as mentors and volunteers. All three coordinators are employed by the Oak Harbor School District, and work in the English as a Second Language program under the guidance of their good friend Mrs. Sherry Fakkema, who also spends many hours helping children within the ESL and the cultural dance program.

The cultural dance program, would also not be possible without the help of the Filipino-American Association of Oak Harbor, which has graciously supported the troupe in it's endeavors of enhancing the cultural awareness of the community. Many of the Fil-Am members are also active participants, teaching many of the children about the dance steps and enriching them with their knowledge.
