is a Dutch-Spoken adaptation of the current hit musical
Romeo et Juliet, an original French
musical adaptation produced by
Gérard
Louvin.
The musical has is very popular right now in France, and the Belgium MusicaHall
is producing this version, that will run in Belgium and then in the Netherlands.

According to "Het Gazet Van Antwerpen" and "Het Belang Van Limburg" the cast
are:
Veerle Casteleyn = Julia (in "Gazet Van Antwerpen" there's a lovely large
picture of her, larger then the others)
Davy Gilles = Romeo
Wendy Van Wanten = the mother of Julia
Daisy Thys = the mother of Romeo

Yesterday I e-mailed musichall and asked them for a press-login for their press section, because of me running a Veerle Fansite.
They mailed me back with a login, but reminded me that no contracts have yet been signed and nothing is certain.
Now we have of course not been the only ones speculating about the cast, many people at musicalfan.be have, and as a general responce, Musichall mailed musicalfan.be witht the following statement:
16/04 De persdienst van Music Hall laat Musical Fan weten dat de cast van de musical 'Romeo en Julia - Van Haat tot Liefde', nog niet gekend is. "De contractonderhandelingen nog volop bezig zijn," aldus Katrien Adriaens. "Zolang de contracten niet getekend zijn, wensen wij geen namen te noemen. Dit is zeer onterecht naar alle acteurs toe die hebben deelgenomen aan audities en workshops en op dit ogenblik nog niet zijn gecontacteerd voor een mogelijke samenwerking."
16/04 "The press department of Music Hall wishes to inform you that the cast of Romeo & Juliet -"From Hate to Love", is not yet known. The contract negotiations are still ongoing. As long as the contracts have not been finalized, we will not mention any names. This would be most inapropriate toward all the performers that took part in the auditions and the workgroups and have not yet been contacted about possible involvement."

Oke.. some news.. there is a small discussion going on about Veerle's role at musicalfan.be, which I started. I talked about Veerle getting the role, but that was quicly brought into a bit of doubt (meaning they didnt think it was 100% certain yet) by "Lotte" and "Tom"
Now Lotte seems to be quite a bit involved in the Benelux theatre scene, she is either a performer or a big musical fan as she seems to post alot. And Tom seems to know Veerle and this is what he had to say:

"I have spoken to her 2 saterdays ago.
This is what I have understood:
Last week there was a Workshop with the leftover candidates (of the audition)
for the roles of Romeo and of Juliet. At this workshop they would combine
Romeo's with Juliets to create the perfect couple.
The idea is that there is one Flemish couple and one Dutch one. The Flemish
couple will play the main parts in the Flemish tour (7 weeks in the city of Gent
and 13 weeks in Antwerp), and the Dutch couple will do the understudies during
that time. In the Dutch tour (that will be seen in Carre (big theatre in
Amsterdam) the Dutch couple wil play the lead parts and the Flemish wil be
understudies.
Veerle did not know for sure if she would get the part as Music Hall (the producers of this musical) is still looking for BV's. But personally I would not doubt it for a second, Veerle is perfect for the part!

Anyhow Lotte has about the same information, and I want to thank them both
for providing it.
Lotte however is worried that Veerle's voice might be to "young" for the part
(as in the Frensh version the actresses voice is more mature), and I am inclined
to agree. Still as everyone keeps saying, and I know everyone here agrees, in
all other aspects.. she is perfect for the part.

Veerle audiotioned for the musical Romeo and Juliet in Belgium. She got the
main part (and guess what role she plays ...)
Musical starts in september.
