What are miniature orphans? Miniature orphans is the term I use to describe miniature items that I have created, been given or purchased, which do not have a "home" (scene or house to go into) yet. I plan to add photos of more orphans as they are created and pictures are taken, so I encourage you to check back often. Please keep in mind that the links within the text below will send you to a page of photos, so if your browser does not support images you won't get anything out of those pages. I do encourage you to read the descriptions below anyway.
About a year or so ago, one of my friends in one of the miniature clubs I belong to, showed us how to make dollies for her project. I didn't feel I was ever going to make one that looked good at all. After making the frame, I tooke a piece of fabric, put it in my bag along with the completed frame and forgot about it. Suddenly, the other day, I decided to try and finish the dolly. I thought the fabric I had chosen was vaguely Oriental in flavor, so I decided to make it a kimono. Thus Suki (beloved in Japanese) was born.
This is a doll I purchased from my friend Sheila who taught us to make dollies. She was inspired by the Madeline stories. I don't believe that she was given a name before I bought her, so I decided to name her Jilliene. Sheila is selling her dollies and they seem to be very popular. If you are interested in contacting her regarding them, please email me.
This baby dress and bonnet were taught at one of my miniature club meetings by a very talented woman named Joanne. I was very pleased and even a bit surprised at how well mine came out. The wooden hangers were made by Joanne and given to each of the ladies making the set.
This selection of accessories for a country home were part of another miniature club meeting. The class was taught by Buff. She is one of the most talented miniaturists I know.
This is another dollie made by Sheila, my friend who made Jilliene and who taught the class in which I created Suki. She made them for Halloween and since she knows Halloween is my favorite holiday, she sent me one.
Quarter Inch Mission Furniture
This is a beautiful set of Mission style living room furniture in quarter scale. It was given to me for Christmas by my secret pal in one of the miniature clubs I'm in. I just love bungalows and mission style furniture, so I'm really looking forward to building a house for this set.
This is a set of pink depression glass from Chrysnbon. It was given to me as a Christmas present by Steve and Kara of Adamov Miniatures. They got it for me because I collect two different kinds of full size depression glass which are both pink. Only one set of dishes and one set of glasses are shown, but they gave me full service for 4.
