Professional life
After
leaving the Marine Corps, in May of 1961, I went to work for Southern Bell/South
Central Bell in the New Orleans area. I
held various technical positions with them until 1980. My wife Mary and I decided to move to
Colorado Springs, Colorado in 1982. I
held supervisory/manager positions with two small long distance companies in
Denver and Colorado Springs, until being hired by Nortel Networks as a Field
Installation Supervisor in Nov 1985.
I managed
installation crews in Utah, Colorado, Nebraska and Iowa installing Nortels
digital telephone equipment until being promoted/ transferred as a Senior
Systems Application Engineer to Birmingham, Alabama in 1988.
Due to the
recession in 1991 I was part of a lay off and did not find work in my chosen
profession until April 1994, when I went to work with Bell Canada International
(a Nortel sister company) as a consultant.
I transferred back to Nortel in 1995, in Atlanta, GA, and held
engineering positions in digital switching and fiber optics.
The last
position that I held with Nortel was as New Product Introduction Specialist on
the AT&T Account Team. My role was
to expedite the introduction of Nortel switching and fiber optic equipment into
AT&T laboratories in Chicago and and New Jersey.
Again,
because of recession, I was laid off/early retired in March of 2002. Nortel downsized form 90,000 to less than
30,000 people.
Due to my
over qualifications (there is no age discrimination), I now work for Target
Stores in the produce department, putting out fruits and vegetables and putting
up with PAIN-IN-THE-ASS customers.
Ninety percent are very nice, but that other ten percent, OH GOD
Personal
Life
As to my
personal life, I was married to my wife MARY WILL, the daughter of a career
Navy Chief, in May of 1971. We have no

has been a licensed real estate broker in Louisiana, Colorado and Georgia. Mary has started up and ran two successful
