Symbolism, fantasy and detail are areas I like to pursue in my painting. I enjoy experimenting with various mediums, however oil paint has always been the one I prefer. I enjoy using glazes for visual texture and subtlety of tones. Glazes over gold leaf has some interesting qualities. My painting has been influenced by many artists, events and friends but mostly from a time I spent in Vienna in the 70's, where I was accepted into The Academy of Fine Art and studied portraiture. Here I came across "The School of Fantasy Realism". Fuchs, Brauer, Hutter, Hausner, Hundertwasser all exhibited in and around Vienna and also in Cafes where I went often. Their imagination , technical brilliance and visual textures inspired me enormously. Now I live and work in Somerset, painting commissions and my own work when able. I have the occasional exhibition but they can get expensive on fees etc. so I prefer this. I hope you enjoy your visit. Pictures will be updated fairly often so please visit again.
