AUTHOR'S NOTES:

The Crystal Abyss is more than a work of fiction, it is a poetic and philosophical piece, it's main inspiration being the greatest book ever written --- The Bible. If one reads in between the lines, comparisons can indeed be made to same. The story is centred around the aftermass of Jesus' death, as felt on another plain of existence, and here a strong celtic influence is also evident by the mentioning of these 'otherworlds'; these other existences. In fact, this composition is heavily laced with celtic mythological imagery, and the reader could presume that it is a myth within myths. To quote the character, Gwion: "Is there not a grain of truth behind every myth?"

Myths are tales, where the facts are concealed, or have been distorted. Like the 'Chinese Whisper', the story is passed infinitely on, down a line until one is no longer certain what is truth and what is false.

That Jesus Christ existed, there is no doubt, and the existence of King Arthur, although veiled in the myths of legendary, is abundently evident. Whether Arthur was the noble, kingly savour of Briton, as mythology painted him, or a roguish, pagan tribal chieftain no one can be sure, and whether Jesus was actually the Son of God, or no more than, a great prophet, philosopher and ambassador of morality, only what the reader personally chooses to believe is in fact true.

The romantism in myth, and the poetic license of scribes, early historians, bards, camp followers and disciples have altered what really is the truth and changed factual events into fictious stories --- what we today, call myth. I hope that the Crystal Abyss will also be classified as such because I know that the story within the story is, although romantised, true and factual.

This story, it must be stated, owes much to the inspiration of three beautiful ladies which have contributed much to the project. One has shown me the strength of conviction. One has shown the freedom of true friendship and the third is but a distant dream. Without their, and my young son, Brett's, strong support, the story may have never got passed the first draught.

I love you both, Ren and Estrel

... and to my beloved Clara, I will LOVE you Forever & Always.

... And you as well, my dear Brettalaine.
