Torpedo-Batterie RUTLEDAL

Rutledal, Sogn og Fjordane

Main armament:
Two 45 cm. torpedotubes from the Norwegian torpedoboat "Skarv".
Ready for battle: May 1940

One of the first defencesystems built in the county after the invasion of Norway. The battery was a concrete building with the tubes mounted in it. For close defence it had a sMG and a 5,0 cm. Kwk. This was mounted on a bunker close by, but was tactically under HKB 15./981 Kirkeöen only a few hundred meters away. For pictures of the Kwk. position look at HKB 15./981 Kirkeöen. The torpedobattery became a part of MKB 7./504 Sognefjord's defences, on the other side of the fjord after the war, but was closed down in 1954. Today the site is easy accessible, and it is easy to find. The roof is halfway burned off, but apart from that it is in reasonably good condition. At least it makes a perfect platform for sports fishing.
