Brian and Helen's Q&A

Although this isn't really an actual interview with Rosemarie, Brian and Helen, the creators of the previous Rosemarie Ford Site (The Rosemarie Ford Fan Appreciation Page) put together this great question and answer bit by gathering info from lots of sources. I hopw you appreciate the effort, and thanks a lot Helen for everything. I believe this bit was compiled in 1997.

When was Rosemarie Born ?

Rosemarie was born somewhere between February 20th and March 20th 1962. Brian and I are trying to find out what date she was born on but since Rosemarie has never mentioned the actual date in any newspaper/magazine articles or TV appearences, this is proving to be a bit of a problem at the moment.

Where was she born ?

Rosemarie was born in one of three villages near Selby in North Yorkshire. We still have to find out WHICH village she was born in, but Brian and I are working on that. We have cut it down to Brayton, Barlby and Osgodby which are all situated quite near to Selby. We have to find out which one(s) of them had a village dancing school that was running classes in 1968, when Rosemarie was around six years old.

Where did she go to school ?

Rosemarie attended Sherbourne School and was High-Jump Champion, and was really good at all other sports as well. I think this school was in a village situated about five miles west of Selby, but I'm only guessing this. The village is called Sherburn-in- Elmet.

Where does she live ?

Recently, Brian and I found out that Rosemarie does NOT live in London - as we originally thought - but Buckinghamshire. We now know she lives with Robert Lindsay, but we are unsure if her sister Christine also lives there, or somewhere else.

What relatives does she have ?

She has a mum called Elsie who lives in one of those three villages (mentioned above) near Selby, North Yorkshire and a sister called Christine. She is also, currently, in a relationship with Robert Lindsay whom she also lives with.

What starsign is she ?

Her Starsign is Pisces. This was mentioned on the Big Breakfast on Friday 4th June 1994, and she found out that she was particularly compatible with Scorpio people. One of the crew wanted to know if she was also compatible with Aquarius (which just happened to be his Starsign!). It was also mentioned on The Generation Game a couple of times, as well.

What type of car does she drive ?

She drives a Dark Blue N reg BMW 316i Compact. I thought I saw it once parked outside the London Palladium, but it wasn't her car. I also read in 1993 that she had her luxury car stolen, and Brian told me he saw her driving a red Golf to panto in Southampton at the end on 1994.

What jobs did she used to do in her village ?

On The Big Breakfast, June 28th 1994, Rosemarie revealed to Paula Yates that she grew up in a farming village. She said she used to help the farmers with their tasks, from milking the Goats to having a go on a Combine Harvester.

Does she have any pets ?

She owns a dog called Elsa, because she was seen on Sharp Shooters on Richard and Judy, walking through a park having photographs taken of Elsa, to show the technique of Animal Photography. I think Elsa is a Labrador, but she could be a Golden Retriever, as the breeds look quite similar. Rosemarie was included in one of the photographs as well. She also has a old black cat called Suzie, which she got from an RSPCA place, shortly after settling in London, around 1981. We have also found out, recently, that she has two more dogs called Dodger and Chelsea, and are trying to find out if there are any more pets that she has that we don't know about - yet :-)

Does she have a loud scream ?

She has quite a loud scream because I have heard her scream on the television several times, the most recent time was when Noel Edmonds waved a handful of worms at her on Noel's and the Winner is...She also screamed several times on Bruce Forsyth's Generation Game, once on Children in Need and once on Surprise Surprise during the Tango, with Graham Bickley.

What world record did she attempt and when ?

Sometime before 1989, Rosemarie had a go at a world record for high-kicks (which she is well known for) and managed eighty-nine in one minute. Unfortunately, the twelve year old girl she was competing against managed ninety-six in one minute, and therefore just managed to beat her. They showed a clip of this when she appeared on Going Live in 1991, and Rosemarie said "Where did you get that clip from ?" to Phillip Schofield. I think she was a bit shocked that they had dug it out from wherever clips that you never want to see again go to (The Cutting Room!).

Has she ever released a record ?

In 1991, Rosemarie acheived one of her lifetimes ambitions and released an Album called "I Wanna Dance with Somebody". It has a collection of ten to eleven songs ranging from Miss You Like Crazy to Time of My Life. I have a copy of this album, but I have only listened to it a couple of times.

Does she have any children ?

She has a God-daughter called Andrea. I think she is quite young because Rosemarie described her and her sister as "Two of the prettiest babies you've ever seen", during the article Question Time with Rosemarie Ford, so I think Andrea would be somewhere between the ages of one and three.

What competitions has she won ?

She won a competition run by the International Dance Teacher's Association and was one of their "Miss Dances' of Great Britain (1978)". I have found out that she is (still - I think) a member of this association. I found this out from the Internet. Brian also told me that he had read, somewhere, that she won a National Talent Contest in Leeds when she was 14.

What type of jewellery does she wear ?

She likes Silver jewellery and prefers it to gold. If you watch her appearences, you will notice that she normally wears a silver watch on her left wrist and a gold bracelet on her right wrist, complete with silver hooped earrings. She also wears two or three rings on her right hand as well.

What hand does she write with ?

Rosemarie is one of this country's LEFT handed celebrities. I noticed this when I saw her signing an autograph on her Gotcha and I was quite surprised, because I had assumed that she was RIGHT handed for three years and three months between September 1990 and December 1993. I have only seen her write TWICE on the television, but the fact that she's left-handed was also quite noticeable during the "DIY Dilemmas" series on GMTV.

How did she get the scar on her right leg ?

She has a scar just above the knee of her right leg. I think she got it when she had to have 12 stitches, when she was younger, after having an accident with a pair of stilts. She showed the location of the scar to Vanessa Feltz, during her interview on The Big Breakfast.
