Charge-couple devices (CCD`s) are producing images rivalling those of professional observatories of only tens of years ago - The digital revolution has begun. In other words, my 8 inch dobsonian telescope becomes as sensitive as 24 inch. Here we are using the CCD digital ability concentrating is sensitivity on solar imaging with the QuickCam from Connectix or planetary and deep-sky imaging with the CWIP-S from Sirius Instruments.
