GUAM
Pic of Guam
Guam, a territory of the U.S, is a volcanic island located in the Pacific Ocean, about three-quarters of the way from Hawaii to the Philippines. The capital city is Agana, the currency is the U.S. Dollar and the most used languages are English, Chamorro and Japanese. Population exceeds 157,000. The climate is best described as an “endless summer.” However, from June to November, the island is subject to numerous Pacific typhoons. With Anderson Air Force Base, and a thriving tourism business, the overall economy is strong. In fact, Guam receives more tourists than any other Pacific island, with the exception of Hawaii. Most of those tourists are Japanese and Korean.

General: Guam, is a tropical island located in the Pacific Ocean. Our capital is Agaña, and it is located @ 13º 28' and 144º 45'. This island is approximately 9 miles wide and 30 miles long (at its widest and longest points). Population: Approximately 150 someaught thousand?? Climate: We have two seasons on Guam. Dry and Wet. During the rainy season, this spans from about May up until December, and then it is the dry season. We experience most of our typhoons during the rainy season. Ethnic Groups: We have many ethnicities on this island. Ranging from Micronesians, Polynesians, to Caucasions, and even Indians (from India mind you) we have many a diverse group of people here. We have people from the Federated States of Micronesia, Republic of Palau, Hawaii, U.S.A., CommonWealth of the Northern Marianas, Korea, China, Japan, Vietnam, India, Bangladesh, Philippines, Europe, and just about most places you can think about... Culture: On Guam, the original peoples of this island are called Chamorro's. Now there is a lot of debate on where this name derived from... Now in Spanish (these are the people that first conquered us) there is the word Chamorro, which means clean shaven. Now the chamorros hairstyle of the upperclass Matua was a shaven head with a lock of hair on the top. But in our language there is a word that sounds similar to Chamorro but it is pronounced chamori, and this is the highest class of Chamorro (back then that is) But I am not going to write a five page HTML on the History of the Chamorros. :-) That is all I can think about for now but if you have anything else you would like to see, or have any additions, deletions, or revisions for me, just send me an email....
