Alileng
the mother of pearl from within the "alileng tulompu" shell. It is an edible sea snail, that was introduced to Guam. A similar edible sea snail called alileng pulan is a turban shell type snail and that is how the introduced Red Top Shell got it's name. The scientific name for alileng is Trochus niloticus.

This pendant is mine, it is of alileng and it is the letter "J" for my first name. Twisted åkgak (Pandanus tectorius) leaves for the two strand twisted rope.

This is a letter "R" that I made for a close friend of mine by the name of Robert Lindsay. He helped me out many times, but saved my ass one time when I needed a graduation lei to send to the states. Anyways I owe him big, so why not give him something NEW and exciting. :)

This was carved in the image of the Great Seal of Guam. This is centered on our flag. It's my depiction of what it looks like, although it is missing the superimposed "G U A M" right below the coconut tree's crown.

This is an alileng "I" pendant with ifit wood pieces attached. Ifit wood is a local hard wood with a nice grain. This is for a pretty girl named Irene, who's as nice as she is beautiful. :) This one was a doozey to make.

This is a hook that I carved from alileng shell. There is a coconut tree, some stars, a coconut frond, and some traditional designs. Front and back views

This is a hook that I carved from ifit wood and carabao horn (asian water buffalo horn). Traditional designs, and a star. Front and back views

This is a hook that I carved from carabao horn and vegetable ivory (tagua nut). Has traditional designs, stars and coconut frond carvings on it. Front and back views

This is a Guam seal alileng shell pendant that I carved on April 01st :) Coolio... Enjoy!
