| The oil painting below was recently completed. This work is strongly allegorical in character comprising a number of interesting points. The little white duck at the bottom right has been inspired by Rubens' "Landscape with Rainbow". Where the two white ducks are seemingly dancing or playing, a third duck in the shade forms a ghostly figure. Again some significance may be attributed to the fallen tree; seen so often in the work by Nantais.Furthermore, our attention may be drawn to the obvious lead to Ely Cathedral on the horizon. The painting itself is a subtle blend of modernism and Victorian pictorial art with the distinct flavour of classical oil painting. |
