STRANGE DRINKS
Here at Lemon Fresh we believe that life is only as strange as its strangest drinks . So we went searching for the strangest drinks in the world (well at Safeway anyway) ......

FRESNO

Description: A new-agey sparkling drink in herbal flavours like Elderflower and Orange and Bergamot.

Packaging: Very groovy. Would appeal to bohemians in Fitzroy I think.

Comments: Definitely strange. Quite refreshing.............its delicious !

Enjoy With: Risotto.

Score: 7

FEELING SEEDY

Description: a "kudzu based revive drink" that is aimed at the hung-over. Kudzu is "a plant used extensively in Japan and China.......for hangovers, migraines and stomach upsets........it gives a natural elevating feeling".

Packaging: cheap and crappy.

Comments: tastes like Lucozade. Seemed to help my hangover.

Enjoy With: Sausage rolls, any chicken dish, lamb chops (see Notes About Foods)

Score: 8

PICKFORDS OLD STYLE KOLA BEER

Description: home-style cola

Packaging: Ye Olde Sovereign Hill style label

Comments: Tastes flat and syruppy. I can’t imagine who would buy this over a regular cola. Drinking the whole thing would give you a headache.

Enjoy with: some Anzac cookies at your Nanna’s house.

Score: 6

VIPER

Description: "a chocolate, Guarana and cola drink with real BITE". In other words, a sickly sweet syrup made to cash in on the popularity of a crap substitute for coffee.

Packaging: Has a hissing Viper on it. Not appealing to my eye. Maybe Nine Inch Nails fans might like it.

Comments: By the time this article goes to print (if it ever does) this product will not be on the market.

Enjoy with: Tabs of herbal ecstasy.

Score: 1

KAFFE

Description: a coffee flavoured soft drink

Packaging: pear shaped bottle with a picture of two lovers pashing.

Comments: If you like coffee you will not like this.

Enjoy with: coffee flavoured chewing gum.

Score: 2

KINNIE

Description: a dry, sparkling soft-drink with a citrus-rind/herbal flavour. Made locally.

Packaging: Very cheap.

Comments: I can imagine an old lady drinking this in the space of Drops On the Rocks or Claytons. Tastes Okay but will never hit the big time unless Michael Jordon starts drinking it. (unlikely)

Enjoy with: crackers as a pre-dinner tipple. (serve with ice)

Score: 7
