Tom: Thank you so much for responding to my search for Dr. Lawrence Genet who, supposedly, found cave paintings and Hebrew scrolls in a cave west of Chattanooga on December 2, 1993. You, I, and the University of Tennessee archaeologists to whom you forwarded my request, have not been able to find him in the United States. Do you like a mystery? If you are interested enough to read the 80 page (self-published) book I wrote with Chief Joseph Two-Eagles Stewart, Chief of the Echota Cherokee in Maylene, Alabama (506 Cedar Lane, zip 35114), in 1988, which explains more in detail about the Cherokee's Origin Story, I will make a copy and send it to you by U.S. Mail. (Please provide me a forwarding address.) This is the full story - separate from those Indians of Cherokee, North Carolina - who "hid in the woods" rather than be rounded up for the Trail of Tears. These are the Cherokee who have no tribal enrollment number with the U.S. Government and don't want one. Briefly, I will tell you that I discovered much more than I expected when I began to trace my geneaology. After hitting a roadblock with my great- grandparents, who refused to reveal anything about their history, I met Chief Joseph, who so kindly told me many "heretofore secrets of the Cherokee." Having had 11 heart attacks by 1987, he knew that The Creator would take him as soon as he has passed on everything the next generation is supposed to know to those "open" to receive the oral history of the Native Americans of North America. Chief Joseph's uncle was a myth keeper for the Cherokee. Chief Stewart, himself a fullblood Cherokee, served his career with the Maylene, Alabama police department. Since 1987, I have had several communications from Two-Eagles Stewart, who is no longer chief because of declining health. He himself has written his own book (self- published) with myths and formulas of the Cherokee which his uncle taught him - against his mother's will, as she was trying to deny her Indian roots in order to blend in with white society. Joseph Two-Eagles Stewart is the one who sent me this article on Dr. Genet's discovery of "Jesus Among the Cherokee" before His Ministry and Crucifixion in Jerusalem. Two-Eagles has passed on to me other articles which I have searched out and verified for him. The reason he passes these things on to me is because it is verification of what the Cherokee already know about their history. "Jesus Among the Cherokee" is not a Weekly World News or National Enquirer "hot story." Cherokee - and most North American tribal legends -tell of the time when they were visited and taught by The White God, The Prophet, The Healer, The Morning Star, The Son of God (all His titles among various tribes), whose hair was long, wavy brown and eyes were the color of the sea. According to this article by Dr. Genet, there were cave paintings in the cave west of Chattanooga that pictured a man by this description. The accompanying Hebrew scrolls contained in ceramic urns gave his name as "Joshuah" (Hebrew "Yoshuah" for Jesus in Greek). Another stone I traced for Chief Joseph is The Decalogue Stone found around the Circular Mound at Newark, Ohio. It is contained in the Johnson-Humrickhouse Museum, 300 Whitewoman Street, Roscoe Village, Coschocton, Ohio 43812, Telephone 614-622-8710 (my 1988 contact was Marion Phillips, Registrar). This stone pictures a man of the same description with the Ten Commandments written in archaic Hebrew. Our land is dotted with the remembrances of Jesus among the Native Americans. His name among various tribes was Tacoma, Acoma, Mont' Azoma, all meaning "The Mighty", Kate-Zahl meaning "The Prophet" (Quet-zal-coatl), Wakan or Waikano for "holy master", Wa-ko for water serpent, Wakea for "fish god" or "Fair God of the Ocean" and Hurru-KHAN (same meaning as Hebrew "khan" for high-priest; hurru-khan meaning "high priest over wind and water" because he walked upon the water and his voice calmed the storm; today we say "hurricane"). Many of these legends were recorded over a 30-year search among Indians of North, Central and South America and the Pacific Islands, by L. Taylor Hansen, daughter of Professor Taylor, co-originator of the Taylor-Wegener Theory of Continental Drift. She holds her Masters Degree in Archaeology, Anthropology and Geology from Stanford University. Her 1963 book "He Walked the Americas" can be obtained through Amherst Press, P. O. Box 296, Amherst, Wisconsin 54406, phone 715-824-5890. The reason I have not dismissed Dr. Lawrence Genet as a figment of "Yellow Journalism" is because in 1979 at Stone Church on Temple Mount, Independence, Missouri, I personally met, conversed and corresponded with Dr. Joseph Ginat an Israeli Anthopologist from Haifa University. I read about him as recently as June 19, 1998 from the Jewish Telegraphic Agency which stated: "Early this week, the chairman of the Palestinian Authority invited Hamas to join his Cabinet as part of a reshuffle...'Hamas has no interest in joining Arafat,' said Yosef Ginat, an expert on Palestinian affairs at Haifa University...' "Ginat, who served as an adviser on Arab affairs to Prime Minister Shimon Peres in the 1980s, said high-ranking sources in Egypt told him that Hamas did not intend to make life easy on Arafat." The similarity in Genet and Ginat leads me to wonder if Dr. Genet also is not an American. The "Jesus" article says he is "Nashville based" which is similar to Dr. Ginat being "Salt Lake City based." Dr. Joseph Ginat, like Israel's first prime minister David Ben Gurion, believes many of the Arab nomads, because of their customs, are Jews who escaped into the desert when the Romans conquered Jerusalem in 70 A.D. Dr. Ginat had an amazing list of similarities between Palestinian Arab nomads and Southwest desert Indians. Because of this scenario, he also believes many of the Native Americans, because of the same customs, are Israelites who migrated before the destruction of Solomon's Temple in 586 B.C. by the Babylonians (Iraqis). The reason for this time frame is that Native Americans use the Four Animal Spirits of the Four Sacred Corners spoken of in the Bible in Exodus, Ezekiel and Revelation. Ezekiel prophesied in the name of God: "Come from the four winds, O breath, and breathe on these slain, that they come to life...these bones are the whole house of Israel..." Jesus said in Matthew 24:29 "But immediately after the tribulation...the sign of the Son of Man will appear in the sky (what about Comet Hale-Bopp on Easter 1997?); and then all the tribes of the earth will mourn, and they will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of the sky with power and great glory. And He will send forth His angels with a great trumpet and they will gather together HIS ELECT FROM THE FOUR WINDS, from one end of the sky to the other." Native Americans do not worship these four animal spirits, but kill them and use their parts as symbols of The Creator: The COW / BULL as God the Provider (meat, milk, leather, pulling plows, bones for tools - the buffalo substituted by Native Americans), the EAGLE as God the Exalted and Loving Parent, the LION as God the King of the Universe and the MAN as God the Wise, All-Knowing. After Solomon's Temple was destroyed in 586 B.C., the cherubim never again appeared in the restored temples in Jerusalem. Israeli Dr. Ginat believes that the original nucleus of Native Americans migrated around 600 B.C. before the destruction of the Temple. Carl Alpert, another syndicated Israeli journalist, whose articles appear in The Kansas City Jewish Chronicle, with whom I correspond at P. O. Box 6177, Haifa, Israel 31060 also believes that Native Americans are "lost Israelites." Dr. Yosef (Joseph) Ginat told me how he had been called in by the Israeli Department of Antiquities to study a cave that was discovered 22 miles south of Jerusalem while the government was building a military road near what was then the border between Jordan and Israel. The cave was found on the eastern slope of a hill named "Khirbet Beit Lei" which means in Hebrew "ruin of the House of Lei" a variant of the proper name Lehi. Dr. Ginat was mystified because there was no mention in the Bible of a Levitical prophet named Lehi. There was the place of Lehi mentioned in the story of Samson, where he killed 1,000 Philistines with the "jawbone" (lehi) of an ass. Yosef Ginat explained to me that a prophet would often take his name from his place of origin. Dr. Ginat was mystified by the cave called Lei as the entire wall was peeled off and moved to the Israeli museum before the road was constructed. As he talked to an old Arab of the area, he was told that there was once a city named Lehi, which was built in 600 B.C. and held to be sacred to all generations. Arab shepherds (if they are Jews who escaped into the desert when the Romans destroyed Jerusalem) revered the city in their memory even to this day. A sacred oak tree marks the place of an altar where the people worshipped God. On the cave wall were drawn three human figures with their palms raised in the Levitical blessing with the four fingers divided in the middle to form a "V." Dr. Ginat is a Levitical Israeli and knew that only a descendant of Levi had the authority to bless the people with this symbol, which he used daily. And only a true prophet would have dared to use the word "I" when giving a prophecy - or else he would be killed. The anthropologists knew within 30 years, either side, that the year of the Hebrew script was 600 B.C. because slight variantions occurred every generation of 30 years. He translated the inscriptions to read: "YeHoVah (is) God of the whole earth; the mountains of Judah belong to him, to the God of Jerusalem" and "I am YeHoVah, thy Lord. I shall accept the cities of Judah and I shall redeem Jerusalem." Only a true prophet would have had the vision of the distant future to know that after Jerusalem was punished by God through the Babylonian invasion and burning down of the Temple (586 B.C.), God would restore it. This is exactly what happened, just as Jeremiah also prophesied - restoration after 70 years. Joseph Ginat told me he searched the world's religions to find a prophet named Lehi and finally found the "Record of Nephi", son of Lehi who began the story of their migration from Jerusalem to a New Land in 600 B.C. counting down 600 hundreds years until the Coming of Messiah, as he was instructed in a vision would occur at that time (0 A.D.). The Nephite Record concludes in the year 420 A.D. as they continued to count, and it ends with its own burial in Hill Cumorah. Chief Joseph Two-Eagles Stewart's uncle, the Cherokee myth-keeper, gave him the date of around 400 A.D. for the migration of Ani-yan-wia ("The People") out of Central America and up into North America, becoming the Iroquois. Dr. Joseph Ginat's search for a holy man named Lehi led him to find the Nephite Record in the hands of the Mormon Church, under the copyright of Joseph Smith as the Book of Mormon. The Nephite Record explains how his father Lehi migrated to this hemisphere in the year 600 B.C. after no one paid attention to his warnings of the Babylonian invasion. He mentioned Jeremiah as being treated the same by the rebellious Jews. In the case of Lehi, God told him to migrate with his sons to a New World across the water, carrying with him the Israelite Law and Prophets - the reason why much of the Book of Mormon is a copy of certain books of the Bible. On the cave wall south of Jerusalem inspected by Dr. Ginat, two ships were inscribed as well as several geometric shapes. In 1985, I met a man in one of the Mormon sects who had worked selflessly for many years among the Apache, doing what the Book of Mormon says ("Give it back to the Indians") and earned their respect. Dan Picciuto, from Modesto, California, had befriended an Apache teenager and taken him hunting. After the episode the boy wanted to take Dan to meet his grandfather - far up in the mountains - which even other Apaches avoided out of awe and fear. As Dan approached in the pickup, the boy went up to his grandfather who was quite excited. When Dan asked why, the boy interpreted: "You are the man I saw in my vision who has come to tell me the history of our people." Dan gave the boy a Book of Mormon, the record written by the Nephites who tell how they migrated from Jerusalem in 600 B.C. and he read to his Apache grandfather the stories of the various writers that comprise the Nephite Record's 1,000-year history. In December of that year, I met a young Lakota man in his 30s named Sylvester Mesteth (from Pine Ridge, South Dakota) on Temple Mount in Independence, Missouri - not far from where I live. This is the very place where Joseph Smith (who stole the Nephite Record from Native Americans) claimed Jesus would "land" someday to set up the kingdom of heaven with Smith the Seer as The Prophet (just as Mohammed claimed on Mount Zion in Jerusalem). Joseph Smith not only laid claim to Native America's religious prophecy for their sacred mount, but apparently destroyed the pile of stones as their memorial to "The Voice out of Heaven" over this very mound (a natural rise) above the Missouri River, and replaced it with his real estate "1831" marker. Sylvester told me the Lakota's knowledge of the holy hill over which the Voice from Heaven spoke and told them to stop making war. It has to do with an astronomical configuration as well as geological. He said to me, "I will tell you many legends of my people, the Lakota, if you will promise to use them to help my people return to their former glory." I promised and I have been faithful to that promise. My search for Dr. Lawrence Genet is part of that promise -that Native America's religion might one day become clear as it once was. Their legends also tell that they were instructed to hide their knowledge in caves because the Europeans would disregard their validity, make fun of their religion and try to destroy it - many of the guilty being the Mormons. Sylvester told me, "Many elders tell me that the Indian people have written the Book of Mormon. They have designed it, they have put it down. I've heard this said many times by many people. I went back and I've asked medicine people; I've talked with them, made many prayers. I've even fasted. I've talked to Grandfather Fools Crow about this book and the laws. "The way that I see it - these plates that were discovered and dug up (by Joseph Smith in 1827) in (Palmyra) New York and brought out, they were put there a long time ago as a set of tablets, by the people, because of the way the Earth was at that time. There was a reason why they put them in the ground. Maybe it was because of the way the people were living - the corruption that was going on. They must have put it away for safe keeping until after the cleansing, until all the filth would be washed away. "So I have talked to my elders. I have talked to many elders in this (RLDS) Reorganized Mormon church about it (headquartered on Temple Mount, Independence, MO). Everything that was put down in that book was through vision, was through prayer. That makes the book holy. We Indian people today still go out and fast and seek a vision. We still see things coming in the future and we get direction and guidance... "In the generations in the hundred of years to follow in the future, what was said, what was foreseen will come about. And if the white man doesn't understand this book, they should BRING IT BACK to the Indian people so we can tell them about it, so we can teach what this book is all about and what is being said. "That is why today the Indian people, the original Indian people, the original inhabitants -they KNOW this book. It was born within them and their forefathers long ago. And it is born within them today. "So when they say that they are supposed to bring the Book of Mormon TO the Indian people to 'save' the Indian people - that is wrong - that is totally wrong; that if we are baptized into this church of Mormon and we accept this church and all its rulings and become good, then we will become 'white and delightsome.' That is wrong. "The teaching is that the white man comes to US and WE SHARE WITH THEM and we sit and we pray together. And we talk to them and we don't tell each other how to live, or what NOT to do. "My mission is to go into RLDS and Mormon churches to call out Indian People to the purity of the Book of Mormon but not through the wicked churches of the white man. The Sioux know there are four caves in the Black Hills of South Dakota with sacred writings hidden that will come forth. We have seven large sea shells brought from the Red Sea by the Ancient Ones, our ancestors." The Lakota legend says that there were originally twelve brothers across the water (Twelve Tribes of Israel) and the Lakota descended from two of them. In 1995 I met a Lakota man at Bighorn Battlefield who told me in confidence that his grandfather told him "Ancient Lakota tongue sounded like Hebrew." This man also told me in secret that The Creator sent Jesus to the brothers on the other side of the water and the Buffalo Calf Woman to the brothers on this side. A few days later, in Navajo country, Arizona, my husband and I met a traditional Navajo man at this roadside stand (see attachment) who whispered to me that he believed the legend that Jesus came long ago and taught the Indian people. He said, after the Buffalo Calf Woman returns (Miracle the White Buffalo was born on August 20, 1994 at the Heider Farm in Janesville, Wisconsin), then Jesus will return. In October 1997, my husband and I visited Miracle. We were not allowed to take pictures of the calf, who - as the legend foretold - turned the Four Colors of the Four Sacred Directions - white, black, red, and yellow for the four races - within the first year of her life. She is now brown. Chief Joseph Two-Eagles Stewart told me in 1987: "When a friend showed me a Book of Mormon, I read a little and said, 'This is the story of our people. What are you doing with it?' They wanted me to join their Mormon Church to get the book of my people. I would have nothing more to do with them." Soon afterward, I was visiting my mother's family in Knoxville, Tennessee and stopped at Fort Loudon. There I bought "Myths of the Cherokee and Sacred Formulas of the Cherokee" from James Mooney's 7th and 19th Annua Reports to the Bureau of American Ethnology printed by Cherokee Heritage Books of the Museum of the Cherokee Indian, Cherokee, NC 28719, ISBN 0-918450-22-5 On page 351, Chief Joseph's story was verified: "When Sequoya, the inventor of the Cherokee alphabet, was trying to introduce it among his people, about 1822, some of them opposed it upon the ground that Indians had no business with reading. They said that when the Indian and the white man were created, the Indian, being the elder, WAS GIVEN A BOOK, while the white man received a bow and arrows. Each was instructed to take good care of his gift and make the best use of it, but the Indian was so neglectful of his book that the white man soon stole it from him, leaving the bow in its place, so that books and reading now belong of right to the white man, while the Indian ought to be satisfied to hunt for a living." "Cherokee Advocate" newspaper in Tahlequah, Oklahoma, October 26, 1844 This was printed four months after Joseph Smith was lynched from jail in Carthage, Illinois and assassinated for his cult-worship practices that inflamed the common Christian folk of America. Thirty-three (33) years after George Washington acknowledged Upper New York State as Iroquois Nation ancestral land in the 1794 Treaty of Canandaigua - less than 10 miles south of Hill Cumorah - Joseph Smith stole The Nephite Record from the Hill in Palmyra, New York. The Record states that the finder is to return it to the Native Americans. Instead, he copyrighted and published it as the Book of Mormon* with himself as the central figure of a new religion he created by using Native America's legends of the visitation of Jesus to America. *(How he translated the hieratic Egyptian is unexplainable, just as is how Sequoyah did what no single man has ever done before or since -create a written language which turned an illiterate Cherokee Nation into literate overnight, in a matter of weeks, without schools or finances.) The Cherokee had suddenly created their own written language and between 1828 and 1834 printed 1,389,000 pages of bibles, hymnbooks, religious tracts and newspapers over the course of the Phoenix Print Shop's history in New Echota, Georgia before the press was confiscated by the State of Georgia. The Cherokee were ready, willing and able to receive the Nephite Record to be published by themselves as, I believe, the descendants of the Nephites, from the original prophet Lehi, but they never got their "sacred book" from the hands of Joseph Smith's cult - and instead, were rounded up by the U. S. Military and led on the forced march to Oklahoma -The Trail of Tears. Please, see attachments for photos of the places at which I have gathered the above information. I hope you will be able to help me find out if Dr. Lawrence Genet made a cave discovery west of Chattanooga as Dr. Joseph Ginat made a cave discovery south of Jerusalem. If "Genet" is not Israeli, perhaps, it is French. Thank you for doing whatever you can. Sylvia Churchbaugh
