Character Profile - Inui Banjin - Well, I think I don't need to say: the model of his personality is Kazama Kagetsu from Samurai Spirits, to put it bluntly. The original concept was a "character with camouflaged uniform", one of the ideas for the Juppon Gatana (Ten Swords). I added the concept of "military martial arts expert", but I changed that to "multiple martial arts expert", heeding my inner voice that complained "hey, do you think that such a thing existed in that era?". Furthermore, to give one more accent, I put the armors and thus the character was being created, but in the last step, the personality, all the enthusiasm went off and I decided he would be a "stupid high-spirited guy". So, in the end, he has become like that. The truth is that he was not intended to have such motif from the beginning, being rather like that due to his design, but lately I like this kind of stupid guys. Characters who worry too much or who are too stoic have such a philosophy and are cool and all that, but in the next series I think about presenting a lot of this kind of stupids. (although there will be a problem if there are only stupid guys in the series...) - The motif for the design is also Kazama Kagetsu from Samurai Spirits (to be more precise, is Kazama's "Genin" that appears in the ending. Just the opening of the neck is slightly different). As I wrote above, I regret deeply for letting my mind wander due to such amount of concepts I've put into the character. And I also regret deeply for being influenced so much by Kazama Kagetsu. "Simple is the best". I need to learn to draw in a way that characters can be recognized just by their silhouette. And this is the alst time I take Samurai Spirits as a model. From now on, I will work hard to improve my design skills (obviously, I'll keep on being into Samurai Spirits, but that's another matter.)
