A Woman Alone
A WOMAN ALONE
Pamela Sheer Newsom
A rush of cool, crisp morning air of autumn
It made my body shiver as I stood looking out the window
Wrapping my arms around myself to warm me
I was mesmerized by squirrels rushing up and down the tree
Wearing only the thinnest of negligees
My breasts were taut against the silky material
Suddenly, I was so aware that I was alone
So alone...
Memories of us together flooded into my mind
As the tiny strap fell from my shoulder, I released my arms
Watching my reflection in the panes of glass...
I was naked, naked for the world to see
Barely breathing, there was a hush...
Hearing only the inner beatings of my heart
My blood surging though my veins
Odd, the sounds you can hear in a hush!
Like the shuffling of your feet across the floor
Or the deep breaths you take as you nuzzle my neck
The sensuous sounds made by your mouth as you kiss my ear
And the sweet sounds of passion as your arms envelope me
Closing my eyes, I feel us drifting
Falling softly to the hardwoods beneath us
Your hands feeling me, caressing me...
My body writhing in ecstasy beneath yours
Your magical powers possessing my very being
Consuming slowly, all of my senses, all of them
The sight, "Oh the sight of you, my handsome man!"
Hearing your whisper, tasting you, touching you, smelling you
Then taking me to heights only angels dare ascend
"Don't look back," you beckon, "stay with me!"
But I looked and I saw what you didn't want me to see
A woman still alone, alone with her memories...
