Felice Bauer (1887-1960), Franz's fiancee--twice! He met her in 1912 and began writing her letters, sometimes two or three lengthy missives a day, in which he poured out his soul to her but seemed to have little understanding of what she might want. This went on for years, ending only after Franz was diagnosed with tuberculosis in 1917.
