Books from Viking Hong Kong Publications
Bengt Johansson: The Golden Age of China Trade, Essays on the East India Companies' trade with China in the 18th century and the Swedish East Indiaman Götheborg. Hongkong 1992, 167 pp. 12 photos. ISBN 962-7650-02-1. 200 HKD.

12 scholars from Sweden, China and Hong Kong met to assess the East India trade in the 18th century ans especially the trade of the Swedish East India Company, which was the third largest after the English and the Dutch. The book contains essays on the Canton trade system, studied by Hong Kong professor W.E. Cheong and on the Swedish East India Company. The contributions by the PRC scholars are especially unique given that little reasearch was made in China on this subject. The book also lists all expeditions by Swedish ships to China 1731-1812.
