Macau and its Swedish relations

This is the street in Macau named after Anders Ljungstedt, Avenida Sir Anders Ljungstedt. It is situated in a new district in the very centre of the city which is built on reclaimed land. In this area a dozen new streets have been build, all named after persons who have contributed to the development and fame of Macau. Of them Anders Ljungstedt is the only non-Chinese/non-Portuguese.

This picture shows the original coastline of Macau "Praya Grande" seen from south-east. The painting is by an unknown artist around 1840 (private collection).
Here is a map of peninsular Macau. The Old Protestant cemetry is situated east of Camoes Cave and "Avenida Sir Anders Ljungstedt" is located in the newly reclaimed area southeast of Hotel Lisboa.
