Postmaster General |
Comment by MA:
The Postmaster's name is misspelled. Hugues Lapointe was Postmaster General from 3rd November, 1955, until 21st June, 1957. It seems he was not there to tell them how to spell his name.
Additional note on another pamphlet issued by The Postmaster General of Canada:
These two commemorative postage stamps are being released to honour the Fourteenth Congress of the Universal Postal Union which will assemble in Ottawa on that date.
The Universal Postal Union, with Headquarters at Berne, Switzerland, was organized in 1874 to bind all the countries of the world into a single postal territory for the reciprocal exchange of mail. Delegates from the member nations meet approximately every five years to decide upon policy and administrative matters respecting the movement of international mail.
Both stamps illustrate the "Postal Horn", a device that has been recognized throughout the world as a symbol of the universality of the interchange of mail.
