Jane Austen

(1775-1817) Jane Austen was born in Steventon, a village in Hampshire, England. She was the daughter of a clergyman and was the seventh child in their large family. Austen's life was rather quiet. She never married, and had little contact with the world outside of her family life. When she wasn't writing, Austen was devoting her time to numerous nieces and nephews. Although Austen did not write during the Victorian Period, she is often included in Victorian studies because of the thematic similarities between her work and other Victorian novels.
Her works: Emma, Mansfield Park, Northanger Abbey, Pride and Prejudice, Sense and Sensibility, Lady Susan, The Watsons (incomplete), Sanditon (incomplete)
